A few observations:
1. It’s Frodo’s decision to leave the Shire, not Gandalf’s suggestion
2. Sam is such a sweetheart already—he is so excited to join Frodo then bursts into tears
3. Gandalf has already introduced both Gollum’s backstory and mentioned Aragorn (my king)

And so begins the Council of Elrond aka one of the longest chapters ever lol
