The story itself is fine and engaging. I enjoy reading about the characters and many of the plots points flow well with one another. However, the writing continues to irk me; it is very cliched and juvenile at points and often states the obvious. Many things that can be left out because it can be assumed or interpreted is included and it makes reading extremely redundant. It is often "telling" and not "showing".

I have mixed feelings about this book so far. The present tense throws me off, I don't think it flows well, especially when paired with the pace and choices made, it feels very much like fanfiction. Also a lot of telling rather than showing, and what is being shown often traverses into the realm of cliche. The characters can be two dimensional but it is still early, so I will continue to read with an open mind.
