I'm sorry to hear it's annoying you, I love the way it comes out in the end though. :)

It's not so much how Brad acts as a romantic partner but how he acts as a human being. I'll probably add this to my review but(view spoiler)[ If someone you cared about was severely bashed to the point where the man had to go to rehab, no matter the state of your relationship, you would check up on him. You would want to see for yourself he's OK. You'd worry about his emotional state, his financial state. Brad instead, feels sorry for himself only and decides to check up on him 4 months later. That's the most uncaring action ever. (hide spoiler)]

I hear where you're coming from. For me it made sense the way the story was written--he was afraid he'd make things worse by showing up? I felt like he redeemed himself in the end. :)
