in his speech "create dangerously" (which later became an essay) camus emphasizes the importance of reaching a so called freedom of creation as an artist. to be honest i had to reread every other damn sentence at least twice to understand what the fuck it was he was trying to tell the reader. the fact that he constantly contradicts himself in his expression doesn't help either. loved it tho. 2 more essays 2 go

"defense of intelligence" is much shorter, but that much more straightforward & direct towards its recipients. here camus emphasizes the importance of meaningful friendship and intelligence to his audience - students, drawing connection between the two and warning against the decline of intellect, as well as intellectuals being frowned upon by post-war society. v telling of the state french society was in after wwii
