Hitler's debacle in Russia was in part due to Commanders who misled him or did. Ot execute the grand strategy which was to occupy the Balkans, Caucuses along with the granaries & oil producing regions. Leningrad was the only major city which was part of the grand strategy. Their decision to move towards Moscow proved to be their anathema.
