I love how Hoyer shows that East Germany had a culture of Blue Jeans, Jugendliebe (by Frantz Litzst), events such as the 1971 World Youth Festival, etc. Proves that while the GDR was an authoritarian state, it was more than just a country we think of as keeping it's citizens in. That there was such a thing as 'Beyong the Wall'.
