never read the series before this! highly addictive prequel right off the bat; the set-up is very effective when it comes to drawing people in. it’s everything i look for in a book, like a hopeless situation where even the characters aren’t aware of the unknown

also, the plot point that the alaskan organization released the virus to diminish the population is VERY interesting but it’s a little ruined by the employees retaliating and trying to basically kill everyone off like isn’t the point to get a cure peacefully😭

it’s been getting better?? i think the memory stuff is really interesting but the bunker people chasing them w/ a non-logistical reason and the op military gun thing is just a little too unrealistic for me to really enjoy. i think seeing the effect of the virus on mark is cool and his relationship with alec is really sweet!

this part is kinda dragging cause all they’ve been doing is traveling. the religious aspect id usually like but its honestly ridiculous in this book and the virus aspect is intriguing but i don’t have high hopes for what it’ll turn out to be. deedee is random but i think she plays a major role?? mark and alec are turning out to be the goats‼️‼️
