I've barely read the prologue and I'm already thinking this is not what I want to read. Who the hell thinks it is okay to do something like that to a kid just to make a point?

Where I'm from, there are a lot of references to La Llorona. Even I went on a field trip in 5th grade to a park of some sort that had all of us trekking around some woods and the supposed creek where it all started. No one went near the water.
