Hit the real meat and potatoes of the story at about pg 220. Still convinced the first half needs some trimming to address the pacing issues. Pretty sure that would also fix the love interest feeling shoehorned in

Lovely writing, but not every setting needs paragraphs of description.

The love interest is totally unnecessary at this point. The author has spoken about her editor wanting to beef that part up, and I think that was a misstep. This story isn't about finding romance; it's about finding yourself.

But I am loving the world building and the characters. The story itself is refreshing. So far, and enjoyable read
