So far, it's been a light and breezy read. I've always been opposed to anything keto. However, I enjoy Stephanie Laska's book, and it seems like clean eating, with a few food items removed (or groups) for those of us who don't metabolize or our bodies don't mix well with. If you need to heal your body and a specific diet does that, you commit to making it doable and enjoyable so you can do it for life.

Hope you share lots of this on youtube if you decide to try it out. I don´t think I can live without pita bread occasionally and my beans... so Keto is no no for me but I have heard wonderful results (both health and weight related).

Almost done with chapter 12 in Madhouse. Cook is discovering light treatment. I’ve received the other two books. I’ll have to read much faster!I’ve been playing with this sort of eating for a couple weeks. My stomach issues are gone! I feel really good. I’m losing a little weight.
I have days when I read a lot, and days when I don´t. I used to rush through books influenced by booktubers who read all day... same with the knitting and pretty much everything lol Social Media can be a dangerous thing, that´s why I love you and your channel! You are genuine and keep it real, that´s not easy to find these days. Or maybe I´m getting old hahaha. On the diet front... isn´t it great when you figure out what your body wants and needs?! I don´t do Keto, and have never been into junk food but I am eating more protein and less gluten (close to none if I can handle it) and I totally see the difference! (on size and how I feel).
A friend and I were talking about that, keeping up with the cleaning channels, the booktubers, and so on. It is not healthy. I have stopped it all. However, I'm reading this book like crazy. I read all day yesterday and still not done! I am finishing chapter 16. Where are you in the book so I don't spoil anything?
I am at the last chapter ¨beyond the belgica¨, this has been a very special book, I am going to have a big book hungover! I feel almost tired as if I´ve been through all that. I will wait for you to start the next one, curious to see if you´ll get the hungover too hehe.As for the internet... we are from the generation that has seen how awesome it can be.. and how toxic we turned it. But there are good things... like goodreads, and channels like yours. So please don´t leave us again ;) xoxo have a great weekend!
Lol, oh I deserve that and a promise I won't delete the channel ever and I am feeling very different about the channel these days. I'm enjoying it, just as it is. I'm not trying to "teach" or have my ego in the way, thus, I just enjoy it like a wonderful, virtual social connection and creative hobby. I think I'll be enjoying all of you for a long time to come. Now, down to business. I just finished the last pages, and what a great book. It had me thinking deeply about the mind and the absence of light, bad food, constant stress, and darkness and all they can do to a person's mind. I found it interesting how the two men who thrived, Cook and Amundson, did well because of how they worked their minds. They were always inquisitive and learning, exploring, testing. It kept them well. Of course, in the real world they didn't fare so well.
Great read, thank you for picking that one out. I'm now starting Empire of Ice and Stone. I do sort of have the hangover but I'll give this one a shot, people gave rave reviews.
Yes, I have been pondering about the same things. It´s all about the attitude... and I am finally learning that now in general. The same concept applies to what you said about the youtube channel and the expedition. Ego and mind... once we let things flow and have fun, try to learn, look at things from perspectives that are new and exciting... life seems to move easier. Or perhaps is just that we don´t take the bad stuff so badly? I still have a few more pages and pictures to read/look but I will be starting Empire soon. It´s been lovely to read along with you.
It's been fun, and I would have dragged out the reading of that book if I didn't have a fellow reader to keep pace with. I'm on page two of Empire of Ice And Stone by the way, lol. I think this will be my last shipwreck for a while, take a break and then what will come my way?
I still couldn´t sit and finish Madhouse.. but it´s just the post-expedition stuff. I am pondering if I should wait to start Empire, we are close to spooky time and might need to read some Poe or Lovecraft for the season. These books consume all my time so a little break should be nice.
I'm reading it now, but I'm not sure I can do it. I had to laugh when you said you were hung over from Madhouse. Two ship dramas may be enough for the year. I'm going to read fast and get through it. The story had rave reviews. I'll keep you posted.
Yes. decided to pause for now because I am still processing Madhouse, gave me enough food for thought. I will eventually read Empire, of course. But I am in need of something lighter at the moment. Can´t wait to know your review :)
I read 19 pages, will I continue? Who knows, I think I might throw in the towel with this one. I'll keep you posted.
I´m taking a little book break, will be traveling next week so I´ll pick a book to take with me. I think I´ll skip dark mood books for now, the weather is gloomy enough. Need something with depth or lightness. But I will read it eventually, for sure.
