another thing and call me crazy but is it not weird to have two characters in a romantic relationship but the concept of love is apparently a foreign idea to both of them at the time? cause why was it shocking that Miller said that he loved Clara like yea sure it’s hard to admit maybe but would you not want that reassurance before the relationship? so miller spent three years lusting over her but now loves her?

ok i’m bringing this up because i don’t want to forget but mrs. nettle was such a underutilized character like when she was first introduced as being this very nosy person and stuff i really thought that a lot of the information about the affair would be coming from her which really would have made the story more interesting and would have made mrs nettle seem like a more involved character

actually no, i just finished the chapter and yea that reveal would’ve ate in Clara’s perspective🧍🏽‍♀️

i kinda wanted this reveal to be from Clara’s pov☹️ a wee bit sad about it but alas

i wish i could put a picture for my reaction rn but it goes a little something like: 👩(clara) vs 🤺(me about to knock the most amount of sense into her) and 🏢🤾🏽‍♀️ this is me flinging myself off a building cause i hate the miscommunication trope sooo much but in this case it’s more refusal of communication LIKE CLARA OPEN THAT DAMN DOOR

ok i need to start counting how many water/liquid references there are cause this is the second one of her books ive read and ive had like three so far which doesn’t seem like why water? like im getting bored

chapters 2-5 are actually not bad and dare i say my favorite part of the book. now am i done with the book? no. am i only on chapter 6? maybe, however i will be back with my thoughts when im done. cause the end of chap 5 actually pissed me off. WHY WOULD YOU KILL OFF TWO ACTUALLY INTERESTING CHARACTERS??
