A few more rather dark explorations of family dynamics: brotherly disgust and smashed idols.

I am finding some very delightful and sympathetic character sketches in Epstein's short story collection. So far "Artie Glick" and "Moe" are very endearing and masterfully written.

"Artie Glick in the Family Way" was an especially endearing and uplifting tale, an amusing swipe at the perils of psychotherapy and the liberation of just giving in to come-what-may and joie-de-vivre.

Well, the first of this collection of short stories, "Felix Emeritus", is a little drear - the inevitability of age, illness and a perhaps pointless life ending in death - but onward ...
