I'm currently caught between two complaints: First, Evan is a complete prick, objectifying, judging, and commodifying people left and right. Secondly, where did that come from? This story is trying to shove character development down my throat but I'm not swallowing.

Just when I thought it might be becoming bearable, she goes and adds this line: "I was giving her confidence, and that confidence was sexy, like an aphrodisiac." Ugh.
