Ready to start "Champagne Charlie" chapter. These chapters could be read as short stories, in fact one, "Dorothea," was published in an anthology. Stereotypical 1940ish big bank employees in mostly awkward humorous situations.

The trademark Alexander humor is present in his first published book (for adults, 1955) but the sexual innuendos seem out of place for an author who went on to write 37 children's books. The humor and situations, though dated, remind me of the Diaries of Adrian Mole
