The Sea Around Us (1952) ✅
Honestly? I liked Under the Sea-Wind more, personally. This book had a more scientific, instructional feel. The prose was still beautiful — Rachel Carson knows how to end a chapter better than any writer I think I’ve ever read.
I’m glad I read it, and I can see why it won the National Book Award! Next (and last in this trilogy) - The Edge of the Sea (1955)

homegirl was writing this before continental drift theory was widely accepted. so I have no idea if what I’m reading is true at all. but you better believe it’s well written

Under the Sea-Wind (1941) is the only one I have read before. Reading it again was actually more enjoyable than the first! Looking forward to The Sea Around Us!
