Steven Allen How does this compare to Kim Harrison's Hollows series?

Paps Haven't read that one.

Steven Allen It's a pretty good urban fantasy with a white (both in practice and skin color) witch that ends up with a live (vs. dead) vampire roommate and a male fairy (think Tinkerbell) business partner.

This was the second urban fantasy series I read after I started reading Laurel K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series.

The Hollows books are a good read. I got them from my awesome local public library. The Hollows (and the Anita Blake books - especially the first few books when Anita is a kick-ass vampire slaying necromancer/fed marshal) books are worth the read, but not to keep IMHO. YMMV

The Hollows books are not nearly as violent and graphic sex laden as is the Anita Blake books. In the Hollows books sex is present but more of a fade to black or mentioned in the next chapter.

In the Anita Blake books sex is quite graphic, but does not stray quite into word porn IMHO. YMMV In the later Anita Blake books unfortunately they focus on the circus that is Anita's bed (last count she is sleeping regularly with over 20 men and a couple women as well). Fairly graphic group sex, gay and lesbian sex are prevalent in the Anita Blake books, especially the latest books.

Violence in the Hollows books is not nearly as graphic or as frequent as in the Anita Blake series. The Hollows focuses more on the witch trying to live her life, and deal with the crap that she has to deal with (ghosts, elder vampires, etc.).
