I understand the low ratings and why people are disappointed in the lack of romance in the first book, but I think the MC is being set up for a much bigger arc. She's been through so much already, and is still looking for ways to make her situation better. She is starting to realize that her love isn't healthy, but doesn't know what to do about it yet.
