Hilmg I’ve been thinking the same. This book has a role in Louise Erdrich’s recently released The Mighty Red.

What's interesting to me is that it was published in 1856 and yet it could have been written yesterday. Good writing doesn't evolve over the decades into better writing, it's not like books evolve to higher states of books, as the years go by. I'm fascinated by the way some books do age, though, where they become less interesting and less popular for a reason.
