Once again, we have a fresh level of Mann pulling this while thing even closer together. Just finished the chapter Full Harmony, and what started out as an exploration of music ended up containing the jets too HC’s inner state and the results of his playing king for however many years it’s been. Love, death, the character of nations, all bound together with beauty.

So good. I’ve been loving this stretch with Mynheer Peeperkorn, it’s flown by. HC is fully cut off from the world, and has finally gained the love and brotherhood he’s craved this entire time. I wonder if that will change his outcome.

I absolutely love this book, and wish I’d gotten to it in 2018.

The extended meditations on time, illness, and death mimic my own experiences and add new depth. I think I may have managed to save myself some of that time if I’d seen an example of that waste in such detail.

Time started to blend during my surgical recovery, and is still stuck together now. I’ve never stopped recovering. How do I? Too late?
