This bit reminds me of a stealth game. Why hasn't this book gotten a movie option? It seems perfect for it.

The tension of having lots of little pieces of a plan, but nothing to tie them together yet, is really well done.

The contrast of Darcy cleaning out the treehouse for Diana and the kidnappers not even dusting a room they expected three kids to sleep in. Lucky none of them is asthmatic.

Trust your gut, Darcy!

(Although wild that they didn't send the kids to the neighbors or something, given that there was a clear break-in attempt.)

Oof, although the fact that Diana's parents called the cops reminds me: If you see anyone online looking for a missing significant other, especially if it's a man searching for a woman, it's almost always an abuser looking for a victim who's escaped them. The vast majority of cases reported to the FBI turn out that way, and that's with some barriers in place.

Do NOT amplify those requests; report them to the site.
