This sounds like an interesting title. I wonder if Sons and Lovers (or another novel of similar vintage) could be thought of as its fictional - and uncritical - analogue.

I dont know enough of sons and lovers to say but anything a bit vintage and talking about class would be interesting to compare to this - it goes into how the working class has changed and the images of them too so we end up with a very different working class to what im guessing will be in sons and lovers
