i’m guess that the man who murdered Cassie’s mother was the guy she met in the park by the lake. there must be a reason for him to be introduced, he’s the only other side character that doesn’t have an obvious role in the story. As well as the mention of him looking “around my father’s age”. i’m betting money that it’s him
