Odd to see the term “hair metal” used in a story that takes place in 1983. I’m pretty sure that term didn’t really come about until the very late 80s/early 90s. It was all just called heavy metal then. I don’t remember hearing it until grunge and alternative rock broke, possibly slightly before, to differentiate bands like Poison from Metallica and Slayer. But maybe “Hair Metal Harry” was a trailblazer.
