It kind of feels like the author tried avoiding the grief and mourning that comes with the loss of a parent by making that parent less important to the family. The only things I ever hear about the dad is that he never does anything.

Jeez everyone's so mean to each other, and Cameron doesn't really seem to feel much grief towards his dad's death.

Cameron doesn't seem to like his sister at all, and I can't see how she's that annoying ): sure little siblings aren't always the best, but I haven't seen one moment yet where he actually seemed to like his little sister

Why exactly is keeping a possible stalker from his mom smart? I know it's a lot to put on a seven year old, but his mom could only help more.
