In the second chapter (first story) Meg is constantly in her head. She's a daydreamer and it affects the amount of work she gets done in the garden. This is mainly due to her passive personality, that we see when her mother dyes her oatmeal colored cloak "look-at-me-red".

In the last short story, an intelligent cloak attempts to rescue Little Red Riding Hood from several precarious events. Fortunately in the end the cloak is granted freedom and I assume that the author gave the cape to Superman however I believe that its sentience more closely resembles the cloak that Dr. Strange owns.

"The wolf inhaled deeply the TANTALIZING smells..." (Velde, 102) Tantalizing grants a vivid description of the aroma within the story.

This chapter was a bit shorter but it had a fun twist. It starts with a girl weeding in her family's orchard while one of the neighbor boys scares off a "hypnotizing wolf" which is actually a friendly baby fox. Then the girl goes back to help her grandmother with sewing and she says the classic lines while playing with a stuffed wolf she'd sewn. However the neighbor boys come in and cut the head off the stuffed wolf.

Deems definitely believes in the American dream. He's nearsighted but he found a way to make money by wood gathering, he has this idea that children are unruly and he believes that every adult he passes is well respected and rightfully so.

I imagine that Nelda would celebrate the holidays with family. She would bake treats, while her daughter-in-law cooked. Her son would be sitting by the fire with the wood he'd chopped making sure to keep a close eye on his daughter and the wolf Nelda had found and tamed who were playing in the snow.

The next chapter took me for a ride. It starts with two childish parents and the mom getting hurt so the daughter has to deliver the basket of goodies to granny. It ends with granny being a werewolf and a vampire turned into a frog due to little red riding hood.
