Reading it back, it really is surprising to see how their personalities truly were before Francis’s country house. They were all normal late teenagers that enjoyed each other’s company.
It’s saddening to see how much they changed at the end.

I really did not remember Bunny’s murder to be so cold and cruel the first time I read it. But now really analyzing it thoroughly I can easily say it was utterly psychotic.
It will never seize to amaze me the talent Henry has when it comes to brainwashing people. Even Richard narrating it doesn’t even notice. It’s insane how he convinced everyone to “take part” in his murder, even if he pushed Bunny.

It’s unbelievably insane the way Richard manipulates us the readers into believing Bunny truly was doomed from the start.
He wasn’t. He was incredibly smart, them murdering him was a pure act of psychopathy and unstable minds yearning for the thrill of the unknown.

My god I hate how we’ll never know what actually happened in the Bacchanal. No, Henry explained it wrong, he couldn’t have beaten someone to death to the point where their brains were on their face. And there is no logical reason as to why Camilla’s hair was drenched in blood.
Either Richard is utterly lying, or Henry is. What actually happened is so so complex.

I find it very funny that Henry repeatedly admits he does not care nor likes to think about the way people perceive him,
Yet he doesn’t—or does make up a lot of things just so it would match his quote on quote “Aesthetic.”
I just adore how strangely complex he is.

Julian is the smartest person in The Secret History by far. His techniques and knowledge about how to manipule his students in making them listen to every single word that comes out of his mouth. And discretely toy them in a way that makes their primitive impulses take control.
Is insane. Actually.
