I'm listening to the audiobook and the accents are very funny. The narrator is trying to put on somewhat of a British accent for the fancy people but is pronouncing "can" and "plan" with a long aa sound like "dance"/"tomato". (No hate to learners of the language, only mild mockery of one fluent person to another)
