I'm gonna pull my hair out. It's a skill, ruining a perfectly angsty story with dull dialogue, predictable plot, and characters in political roles that can afford to be intrinsically good. Not to mention, the deterioration of romantic development beyond happily ever after in the damned middle of the book.

❝Toddling across the room, he stopped at Gareth's boots and raised his chubby arms. "Up."
Gareth's first thought was to ignore the command and flee
the room, but Talon had neither the temper nor the patience to be denied. Stamping one tiny, bare foot, he repeated his
command. "Up."❞

I'm starting to get frightened. Gareth reacts with vicious jealousness every time anyone so much as talks to Alric. :\

❝"I want to feel the pulse of you
deep within me."❞ I don't think I've read a more ridiculous line.

❝"'Tis the one gift I can
give you that I've never given to another man. The gift of my body. Will you make me yours in truth?"❞ Oh my GOD, the sheer arrogance of this man. Look at this asshole. >:/ I'm so disgusted.

S A P. So so sappy could you please please PLEASE move on? At this point I don't care how much you love each other, because you're all talk and no fucking bite, and your sensitive sensibilities could use a bit of fucking personality.

I'm so bored now. Everyone's being so selfless and supporting; there's a certain lack of tension in that. And Gareth being wise and loving and understanding all of a sudden . . . it's dull to read about.
