I love this little slice of life book. It's grounded in reality. I enjoy the characters, and the banter is fun to read. Darren deserves a hug.

First of all, Rory is a shady mf doing shady business. He's dating Janine, the therapist, which isn't great. I'm glad they have her be part of the story instead of some weird therapist on the side. This makes me kind of like her character because she isn't completely useless.

But Darren... oooooooooou. Yes, to him. Yes, to his job. Yes, to his gentleness. Yes, yes, yes.

DARREN IS SO CUTE! I love him already, especially since Rory had thrown her cake into the pond, like wtf.

But DARREN! This woman had embarrassed herself in front of him when she threw a cake at him, thinking it was the guy who she hurt while biking. A meet-cute, kind of.

I was 100% wrong about the premise, this is a romance book.

WE JUST MET RORY! He's corporate material now and super suave. I am actually blushing hard from his maturity. I can't wait to see what happens!!!

It's a nice read so far. We've met Pete (the food truck man), Dan (the nightwatchman), Milady (Dan's dog), and Janine (local therapist and high-school weirdo).

Madeleine had caused a bike crash to a man who she didn't see, but I guarantee it's Rory. I'm calling it right now.

I'm having an alright time.

I never read the back of the book or the descriptions, so I have no idea what this book is about.

Is it a romance? Or a tragedy story? Maybe both?

Maybe it's about Madeline finding a mother figure at the cafe. She finally starts grieving her mother properly? Maybe the lady dies towards the end of the book, and her emotions come out. That'd be a great book to read about.
