Bonhoeffer essentially says that believing in Jesus is a learned skill that comes from obedience, as a result of the call of Jesus: “The road to faith passes through obedience to the call of Jesus.”
By Peter surrendering his life to Jesus, he learned how weak he was, how strong Jesus is, and Jesus became Lord over his life; but it took that first step.
