Jerry was taught the lesson of listening to those who have more experience than himself because he was communicating with other soldiers in the prison when multiple times Jim, his cellmate, told him he needed to stop. He paid the price for it by being put into leg irons for close to a month. This related to the overall conflict because he usually is the one calling the shots in the prison but this once he didn't

I predict that Vietnam is trying to kill all of the American POWs at once because it says that suddenly there is an influx of prisoners coming to Hanoi Hilton. They could be trying to get them all together in one place to make it easier to kill them. Also, the war has been going on for so long and they don't have the resources to keep housing them.

I predict at least one POW will die when they are all chained together and being paraded around Hanoi. I think this because the citizens are outraged and hate the Americans because they are bombing their country and that’s exactly what all of these POWs did. Also because they are already in bad condition and the officers said that the people of Hanoi will be very violent and the POWs will not be protected.

Aha
I realized that Jerry was going to cooperate with North Vietnam and I thought that was strange because he has been very defiant against them the whole book. But I then understood that he made a secret message for America with him blinking "torture" in Morse code. This shows that even though he shows that he is submitting to the North Vietnamese government, he actually had not.

Character change
At first I thought Jerry was extremely resilient and strong but now I think his time in captivity away from his family and being tortured is getting to him because he cracked and broke the code of conduct. The code of conduct was the most important thing to him in the military but he basically just destroyed it and broke all of the rules on it. He is turning against himself and his own morals and th

Character traits
Jerry is resilient because he has put up with being tortured and confined when he could have it all stopped by just telling North Vietnam what they want to know. This shows that he has pride in his country and will now betray the code of conduct even though he is being brutally tortured.

MM
Jerry remembers little details about his family back home when he is brought to a new place of captivity. This is important because it shows he has not lost hope to escape North Vietnam and return to his family.

Review
So far I really enjoy the writing style the author uses. He is very descriptive and it almost plays a movie in my head of what is currently happening. I also think that the pictures that are every few pages are extremely helpful in helping to understand Jerry and his emotions. For example it showed an image of him smiling widely in his aircraft showing how much he loved flying.
