This 5 book series was pretty good. My main critism is that it was YA and thus didn't go as deeply into the world building or into the motives of minor characters. The overall story follows something reminiscent of Brent Weeks or Brandson Sanderson and as long as you know that you're not getting too deep into all those things, you should enjoy it.
