I am skip reading a bit .. but do appreciate the good research the author put in for descriptions.

Nicolette is their child .. born in a convent. Then her father takes her to live in New Orleans. A. works for what’s left of her father’s business. All her wealth is gone but she has two (elderly) servants with her. She’s a bit on fringe of society .. learning the business from Tim G. And she is now 25y old.

Lucien dies. Aurore knows her lover (Etienne but born Raphael) ruined Lucien ( A’s father) out of revenge for death of Etienne’s mother (L’s mistress) and sister whose father was truly L.
My question now is ob A will stay w/ her lover ? She is pregnant with his child.

It’s 2:30am .. got this far in the first reading of this tale.

So dramatic ! Humongous storm threatening the island .. suspense-full !!

Raphael 7y wants 2B a pirate ..(bastard, poor & his family shunned by many neighbors) on the island where they live.

Have read this author before and this book reads well so far .. up to her high standard.
Setting: New Orleans, 1965
Just finished 1893 LA Gulf Coast chapter.
Unfortunately my copy is NOT in good shape .. falling apart.
