being sick in bed
and snowbound . ..

Ours is a world of suffering
Even if cherry-flowers bloom.

In an old pond a frog ages
while leaves fall

Behold the white wistarias —
The Milky Way blown by the wind.

I’ve seen the moon
I sign my letter to the world
“Respectfully yours”

leaves like bird shadows
desolate —
the winter moon
