The conflict in the book is the attacks of Voldemort. He sends Death Eaters into Hogwarts to kill Dumbledore. It was Draco's job to kill Dumbledore, but he couldn't do it. Snape had t kill Dumbledore for Draco. Harry had watched the entire thing, frozen on the tower forced to watch.

This book is light versus darkness. Voldemort and his Death Eaters represent the darkness. While the Ninistry, Hogwarts, and all the good wizards represent the light. Most of the Death Eaters' actions are at night, when it's dark and they blend into the shadows. The good wizards' actions are mostly in the day, or light.
