The phonetic pronunciations are so annoying because (1) they're inaccurate (2) they take up too much space and stop the flow of text (3) why would people be even reading this book if they don't even know pinyin (4) why would you try to invent another set of pronunciation for this book when pinyin exists for that exact purpose. honestly at this point I'd prefer IPA instead of this homemade phonetic pronunciation.
