Yes, Wein wrote Amazing Spider-man along with a lot of the Marvel Team-up run. He wrote a lot of Incredible Hulk as well. Along with Bernie Wrightson, he created Swamp Thing at DC. A really good comic writer!
@Dave yeah it's still baffling to me that he created the resurrection of X-Men and then they made Chris Claremont the regular writer after Giant Size X-men.Appears to me like he was the kind of elite writer who they let dictate the tone and then give the series over to someone else, since the hardest part of the job is done.
Well, Claremont took that X-ball and ran with it for decades and overall did a masterful job juggling plot drops early and often and leaving some hanging for years. My first X-men was off the spinner rack with issue #137. I felt .75 cents was a lot of money at that time but that issue looked important and was.
@Dave double sized issues the Phoenix must die, the fate of dark Phoenix, yeah it's very important, must be worth a lot of money now!
I had no idea who any of the X-men were besides the OG members: Scott, Jean, Hank, and Warren since I was not on the ground floor with the new team, but that story and art by Claremont, Byrne, and Austin sparkled and one of the best spinner rack buys I’ve made though now it isn’t in the greatest shape in the world it holds a special place in my memory and collection.
