“I’m sorry to say, I don’t like tea.” ….Well. No wonder I dislike you so much, Sally. 🫠 (Seriously, though…this is simultaneously boring as hell & depressing as fuck. I feel like I’m not reading the same book as everyone else.)

Finally starting on the epic backstory. 🙄 I kinda want to punch Sally in the face, which isn’t fair of me given that she’s a victim too, but damn…this girl’s given me NO valid reason for her obsession with Christian. She just keeps going on & on about how hot he was & how sweet he was as a kid. That’s it? Sorry, but those don’t justify such willful blindness.

Yes, yes…Berlin is trashed, Sally has PTSD, & the SS was evil. 😒 I don’t care about this lengthy prologue—I want to hear about the time right before, the rising & internal conflict & Sally’s naïvety, which is what the story is supposed to be about. Why does WW2 fic always have to make sure we know it’s WW2? 🙄

I heartily dislike WW2 fiction, but this comes highly recommended by vintage saga enthusiasts…plus I’ve had it for a long time unread, so I need to either try it or ditch the thing & move on. But since it’s gotten HTF in paperback, I’ll bite the bullet. *sighs, opens to chapter 1*
