1) <3 u2) this from one of the tweeters you included: "Privileged calling marginalized 'bullies' because they were called out? I'm so angry, I can barely process. " <<<< i mean, wtf would AL be thinking in calling people bullies? I can't even, just like this person.
3) good on riptide for responding the way they have, with tangible changes which are looooooooooong overdue.
4) & 5) <3 u...
Not only is it way too short, but it, hmmm....seems to be missing that all-important word RACIST in there. She can compose three blog posts since the firestorm erupted over her book and also make over a dozen inane tweets on Twitter, but all the response this gets is that fauxpology linked via a general "I just updated my website."Go fuck yourself, Amy Lane.

I was thinking the same as AMT... she wrote it as if the subject is closed.
She can go on forever about bullies and people not understanding, but she can only manage four lines of fakitude for this. Also, "I apologize" isn't the same as "I'm sorry".
There's a marked difference between Riptide's response and the response from the author. I'm rather impressed with the response from Riptide, and the changes they are promising.
The statement from Lane is disappointing, but also unsurprisingly pragmatic. The last thing a person who views themselves as blameless wants to do is admit fault. However, it is the racially insensitive word choice that makes one appear racist, not some accident of editing ("Oh shit, how did THAT appear in my book?"). You can discern the subtle distancing of oneself from blame by the strategic use of passive verbs.
