'You may see at your pleasure; my voice shall speak softly in your ear at will; but I must never be known of your comrades, nor just they ever learn my speech.'
(Been there done that buddy. I'm pounding on the threshold with a voiceless scream, begging Ser Launfel not to engage in this sneaky-link situationship.)

From Yvain or the Knight with the Lion:
"Love had hunted on his lands and gathered all his prey. His enemy took away his heart, and he loved the creature who most hated him. The lady had indeed avenged her Lord's death, though she did not know it. [...] sword thrusts can be cured and healed quickly as soon a doctor attends to it, while Love's wound gets worse the nearer it is to its doctor."
Talk about aftermath!

"Finished" (slogged through the olden prose of) the Welsh folk tale of Culhwch and Olwen (part of The Mabinogion). Great structure. I can see little tinges of it in every highfalutin' story I've heard since. Guy hears only a woman's name and falls for her. Trouble is that her father is named Chief Giant (lol). Please the father, get the girl. But to do so you need the help of Arthur and his entourage of dudes. 6/10

"Ser Arthur, why do we march to battle your nephew instead of towards Rome?"
"HE FUCKED MY WI- Ahhh! He is a perjurer and a coward! I never did like him! Don't ask!"
