One of our recent vocabulary words that I found interesting was capitalize. I can relate to this word because whenever I have an opportunity to do something, I like to use it to my advantage and capitalize on it.

I believe that in this story Stevie can relate more to the poem "First Fig" by Edna St. Vincent Millay than the other one. Stevie does not seem to have any ongoing problems with depression, but he does have issues with hard work. Stevie works very hard at his job, so he is burning the candle from each side, but just like in the poem the result is very worth it for him.

I have learned about perseverance throughout my reading of Cover-Up by John Feinstein. Stevie originally got fired from his old job on TV, but he never gave up and has been working much harder since then. This has been paying off for him. He has been having a successful time as a sports journalist for a paper and even got picked up bt CBS for a little bit.

I am not sure if my character would believe in the American Dream or not. Due to his young age, I do not know if he thinks about it too much. If I had to guess whether he does or not, I would say he does. He is pretty successful at a young age, so it might lead him to believe that anyone has the opportunity to succeed in America.

I imagine my main character, Steve, celebrating with a few friends and family members. Steve's parents aren't talked about too much throughout the story, but you can tell they are pretty close when they are mentioned. I believe that Steve would partake in Thanksgiving. Some people who would be there would be his mom and dad, his friend Susan Carol, his boss Bobby, and his boss's wife Tamara.

I think my character is an active member of society, but he can be seen as somewhat of a rebel. He is only 14 and he is doing the job of an adult, so his parents will not let him do some things. He makes the decision many times to not listen to his parents and do what's best for his job instead. I would say that he is introverted even while being a sports reporter. He does not always like talking with people.

Today in my reading Stevie went to dinner with both companies that he is currently working for. He discussed different sports events with them such as the NCAA march madness final 4. He also talked about future job opportunities with each side for the future. I think that he'd prefer to be in the paper rather than on TV even though his previous job was on TV.

In today's reading, Stevie starts working with his new company. While working, he runs into his replacement down on the field. While Steve does not let his jealousy show in front of the replacement, he talks to Susan Carol, and you can tell that he is jealous.

Throughout my reading today you can tell that Steve misses his previous job. When he is doing normal reporting jobs different from his old one I can picture him thinking about his old one. When he saw the person who replaced him on the field before the Super Bowl it brought back memories and he got kind of jealous. He probably thinks about this very often when reporting for another company.
