There’s no arguing about the quality of Tartt’s prose; I take more issue with the content. She brings the reader into the story with such punishing immersion - it is a rollercoaster that I’m not sure I want to ride. Darkly transcendent, miserably magical, everything as metaphor. I’ve 50 pages left and I don’t know if I’ll make it -
