The writing is just getting worse. It’s so tiring. Was there no editor?!?!

Truly what a dreadfully written sentence.

This is just not very well written at all.

The writing is just…not great.

I know he did not just use the word “hot” in that way. I can’t.

All the modern language wouldn’t be so jarring if it wasn’t obvious the lengths Maguire has attempted to go to to try and make Oz a completely fantastical and archaic setting. The combination, if it is intentional, doesn’t work. Either that or it’s just poor writing.

The dialogue is really nicely fitting into this old timey fantastical atmosphere Maguire has going, but he really ruins it with words like “sex” “pagan” “appreggio”. There’s quite a lot of real world terms that are quite jarring and do take you out of Oz for a second.
