Very insightful so far. Charman provides a comprehensive overview of three topics related to the ‘mother state’. The chapter on abortion had some very interesting ideas: coining the term ‘foetus diva’ out of Lauren Berlant; the Rooney passage on the woman being granted fewer rights than a corpse. How abortion and the Pill have been racially weaponised was particularly enlightening.
