Reading this book is miserable. Every page feels like another uphill climb. I'll be lucky if I finish this by May at this point as I can only really stomach 40 pages every week or so.

I'm getting dreadfully close to the end of the year and I'm like 10 books shy of my goal so I may need to go grab something I can finish in a few hours and put this one down until January.
I'm not even kidding with how much of a chore this is. Updike never shuts the fuck up about literally anything and it took me like 30 minutes to read 13 pages. That's so incredibly slow for me.

Oh god not the pee paragraph. John Updike, I don’t wait to pee. The pee doesn’t have to navigate my complicated body. It comes as thunderously as a man’s, as it does for most women.
