Finally reaching the end of the first chapter made me realise that The Great Escape is really a book that requires slow and close reading, to understand the concepts that Deaton is trying to emphasize on, and also to recognise the logic behind his graphs. If you're looking for a light read to find out more about the world, this is not it.
