It took me a while to get into this book. The beginning felt like we had been plonked in the middle of a love story, and I didn't feel like there was enough character building / context.

By the end though, I was sold. I don't think war-romance is entirely my genre, but despite this I found this novel engaging, immersive and extremely moving.

P.S. How is this a debut novel!??!
