This platform undervalues the experience one can get from reading intros and fragments. I'm pleased with the tremendous value I got out of the 14~page preface. It's a well-constructed survey of Woolf's life and the influences she gained from her predecessors, family and authors alike. It gave historical and cultural context that I needed, while telling a good story. I'm not committing to reading the main book for now
