how is your chinese coming along?

It kind of isn't 🤦‍♀️ didn't have a lot of time or energy. But I guess something is better than nothing. That being said, I made a big pause, and returned to a book after some time, and I have felt that the text became somewhat easier to parse (my main nemesis now is sentence structure - it's supposedly so simple, but because there are so few indicators and words don't change, I often flounder and can't quite put the final meaning together) and I was doing nothing but Duolingo in between. So I guess I somewhat internalized some logic, which is nice

it also boils down to practice i think. sticking with a language esp as hard as chinese is well hard so dont feel too bad about it. (: on the other hand i spent many years learning japanese and looking back i think id have gone with a different language like spanish or smth way easier and more useful haha but yeah sometimes the heart wants what it wants.

Oooof, I understand your pain. I invested too much time into French, just to actually start reading, and understand there's nothing I want to read in French.

im learning french rn lol well casually im more interested in just watching french youtubers than reading tbh love watching cute small french town vlogs.

I never stuck the listening part in french, it all sounds sorta blurry to me 😂 I was into french musicals, but that's not enough to fan the flame.

listening to chinese is much worse though all those tones...
