Okay, my college programming experience and mobile app class is making me cringe at this depiction of a high school programming class. It just makes me think the author doesn’t know how the process of creating an app and getting sample output works, because a lot of simple and plausible solutions are being ignored in favor of improbable and more complicated ones. But I guess this is fiction, so. 🙄

I have recently learned that there are quite a few people who don’t actually know the real moral of The Ugly Duckling, and this book has brought up that mistaken interpretation as the reason why the MC hates this fable. And this is yet another thing that is riling me up about this book, lol. I hope she learns the real moral later on. 😪

I feel extremely sympathetic to how her friend struggles to say anything in conversations with people she’s not comfortable with. Her attempts are pretty much what mine look like too. It’s hard, girl. I get chu.

I swear I’m actually enjoying this, but like…we’re at a point where some character is saying he makes YT videos with copyrighted material, and instead of them getting taken down, they’re going viral and he’s “making bank”. REALLY??? As someone who made fanvids and saw her own channel and those in the same community get suspended, I call BS. It’s so much harder now to do that now

And that’s not even including how advanced her final project is for a high school student. I mean, I’m sure technology has progressed a lot from when I was in school, and kids nowadays are savvier about tech and learn coding earlier, but the MC is adding a learning algorithm that sounds like AI in her program, and that is wayyyy more advanced than any of the college senior projects we had. So I’m hugely skeptical, unless I really was more shit at programming than I thought.
